Electrified Double Track, Northern Peninsula

The construction, completion, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the earthwork and associated works: Package N3 - Sub-Package S11

The Malaysian Government has undertaken the Electrification of Double Track Project (EDTP), which runs through the four states of Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis in the northern peninsular region of Malaysia. The project involves the laying and electrification of a 329km-long double track near the existing single track that runs from Ipoh in Perak to Padang Besar in Perlis. The project, which began in January 2008, was completed in December 2013.

Nagano was appointed by MMC - GAMUDA Joint Venture Sdn Bhd as the sub-contractor to undertake the Earthwork (Package N3 -Sub-Package S11) of the main earthworks valued at RM 20 Million.

The earthwork package involved site clearance, removal of unsuitable materials, railway cut and fill, spreading leveling and compaction.
